Cryptocurrency is a hot topic right now, especially in my small island-nation of T&T. It’s become so popular that banks have completely stopped locals from buying crypto with locally issued credit cards (those…
The multi-level marketing train (MLM) is longer than Snowpiercer, with a new scheme dropping almost every day. If you haven’t heard about MLMs, you might be one of the few people in existence who haven’t. According to Investopedia, a multi-level marketing scheme relies on encouraging people to bring in more recruits so that they can get a percentage of those recruits’ sales. This pitch direction prevents red flags from showing up immediately. However, when you look at the kind of outlandish promises of riches, most people who get sucked into MLMs do so because they hope to retire young and…
I typically get the question if you can make a living working as a remote freelancer. Freelancing might seem like a dream job for some people. Many have had to rely on it for income after COVID-19 forced their workplaces to close. NPR mentions that over two million Americans have started freelancing from home in the last year. Working as a freelancer has its benefits, but also its drawbacks. I was lucky enough to jump on the freelancer train early. I started freelancing in 2011 without any idea of how I would get paid or even if it would be…

At the start of 2021, Trinidad and Tobago’s Forex crisis has become relatively difficult to work with. Most businesses have access to Trinidad and Tobago dollars, but they lack the critical component of USD to buy goods for import. While there is a lot of speculation about why this has happened, it’s too deep a subject to broach here. Instead, we’ll look at practical methodologies for people who want to find alternative methods of payment.
If you own a credit or debit card in T&T, you’ll quickly start to realize how difficult it…
Ø 1/2 cup green seasoning
Ø One tablespoon hot sauce
Ø salt and black pepper to taste
Ø One cup flour
Ø One teaspoon black pepper
Ø 1 tsp Italian seasoning (thyme is a viable substitute)
Ø 1 tsp paprika
Ø 1 tsp salt
Ø Two eggs
Ø 1 tbsp hot pepper
Ø 1 tsp lime juice
Ø 2 tsp milk
One chicken, cut into fryable parts.
1) Clean the chicken and cut it up into pieces small enough to fit into your air fryer. You want to make sure that they’re small enough to avoid touching each other when…
I’ve been a freelance writer for over a decade now, but one of the most crucial things I had to learn didn’t come from courses or mentors. It came from knowing what I was personally capable of doing. Freelancing seems like a great gig to those who aren’t in the middle of the fray. The hours are up to you, and once you hit your deadlines, no one really cares what you do in the time in between. For someone who grew up in a work environment where supervision and punishment for disobedience was the norm, this was a uniquely…
“What IS Democracy?”
“It has something to do with young men killing each other, I believe.”
- Johnny Got His Gun (1971)
The events of January 2021, where a gathering stormed the Capitol to contest the results of an election they considered rigged, demonstrate many things. Talking points on both sides seem to be either defending or condemning the action. However, these arguments seem to be based solely on ideological lines without concern for either democracy or freedom’s underlying principles. The United States prides itself as a bastion of freedom and democracy, but these tenets seem to have lost their…
Software giant Microsoft has warned that malicious users are using Excel files with embedded macros as a gateway to hijacking user PCs and information. Microsoft themselves are only responsible for the software. Macros are programmed by third-party providers and embedded into those sheets to allow users increased functionality. Users obtain an email that is COVID-19 related, encouraging them to open up the sheet and enable the macros within. Once done, the malware within the sheet can perform several tasks, including hijacking locally-saved bank and credit card information.
Emails usually come with a legitimate-enough looking subject such as “WHO COVID-19 SITUATION…
Eighteen years ago, Elon Musk started planning for a program that would help to accelerate humanity’s thrust towards the stars. While it seemed like a fanciful thought back then, yesterday’s joint effort between Musk’s SpaceX and NASA shows that public-private partnerships may be the right way to fuel innovation. This advancement is a significant step, because it demonstrates recovery of the US Space Program, long left fallow by successive governments. Musk aims to land humans on Mars within the next five years.
The US Space Program, despite their history of “firsts,” has cooled down significantly since the close of the…
